If the wifi fails
Scores wait on the phones. New climbers and long outages: use paper, then type it in.
Phones keep scoring
Scores wait on the climber’s phone and send when signal returns. The badge at the top says how many are waiting. Nothing is lost. Ask climbers to keep the page open and not to clear their browser.
New climbers
Joining needs signal once. Send them somewhere with signal, or give them a paper scoresheet.
The TV
The TV keeps the last leaderboard and shows “Reconnecting…”. It catches up by itself. If it stays down, try a phone hotspot for the TV’s device.
A long outage
- Hand out the paper scoresheets you printed before the night.
- Keep the round open while phones catch up afterwards.
- Type the paper sheets in at Score entry. Staff-entered results count straight away.
- Then close the round and print the results sheet.
Do not close the round while phones still have scores waiting: changes that arrive after it closes do not count. If that happens, the climber can show you their phone and you can enter the result at Score entry.
